Atoms!

This semester, we will study the quantum computer architecture behind a paper that recently caused headache to crypto people: Shor's algorithm is possible with as few as 10,000 reconfigurable atomic qubits by Cain & co-authors.

Topics include single qubit control, Rydberg interaction, quantum LDPC codes, fault-tolerant quantum operations, syndrome decoding with Belief Propagation, and even compiler construction.

This is not a crypto seminar, though: We won't talk about Shor's algorithm.

First class meeting

We have decided to push back the first class meeting by a week, as several people are still traveling.

The 1st class meeting took place:

• Wed, Sep 9, 14:00-16:00 — in the Delta building, room 2049.

In the meeting, a short overview about quantum computing with (Rydberg) atoms was given, and a preliminary list of possible topics was introduced.
