Project Based Exam
In order to undertake this examination, you first have to find an idea of a software product or service that you could think of commercialise. Examples of such ideas can be found for example by checking previous editions of Garage48 or similar competitions. However, you cannot copy an existing idea, instead you ought to develop your own idea. The idea must be approved by the lecturer.
If you do not have such an idea, you can receive an idea to use but once you receive the idea, you have chosen this exam and as such, must take it.
Assuming you have an idea that excites you and that is likely to excite others, your task is to assume the role of the software product manager and, as you did with the project assignment, produce a similar report. The report should include at least the following components.
- Your Business Model (building blocks of the Canvas) with explanations and motivations.
- MVP and Customer segments (personas)
- Elaborating the pricing Model and how you intend to get revenues
- User stories for the main users
- Business Case Analysis
- Metrics
- Roadmap and Release Planning
- Risk Management
- Description of the software product or service including wireframes, screenshots or link to a working prototype or mockup
You will be graded both based on the form (i.e. do you submit the required deliverables). The idea in itself will not be considered when grading but the content of your report must be realistic.
Your submission will be graded as an "essay", which means that the grading is partly subjective and depends on the quality of the arguments you put forward to convince others. Each of the above listed parts are graded according to 0 - 5 points.
0 points - The part is not covered at all, the report is empty in this regard.
1 point - The part is very briefly and superficially mentioned
2 points - The part is covered but there are errors, misunderstandings, inconsistencies or any other aspect that reduce the quality.
3 points - The part is covered, discussed and has minor errors.
4 points - The part is covered, discussed, elaborated and has no errors
5 points - The part is covered excellently, discussed properly, contains no errors and include aspects that are novel, highly relevant, and impressive or in short, and included relevant and impressive body of additional sources, in other words, it is excellent.
In addition to the nine parts above, grade for written report is also given. The written report considers flow of text, balanced coverage of content, consistency, formality (such as space usage, headings, references etc.) and the length of the report (no longer than 25 pages including non-content pages such as cover page, table of content, and references). Submit the exam using Moodle.
This exam has to be submitted individually.
Good luck!
