Exam
The exam will be conducted online on your chosen dates. The online exam will consist of a timed quiz and an open-book part. Both parts will be available for you on the exam day in Moodle.
Part I: Timed Quiz (10 points)
The timed quiz consists of 25 questions, each worth 0.5 points. The maximum number of points you can get is 10. The time limit for the quiz is 10 minutes, so you have about 25-30 seconds for each question. When you spend too much time on one question (eg looking it up from the materials), then you will not have time to answer other questions. The questions are random, but there is at least one question from each of the weekly topics. The questions are about the core principles from the course. You have only 1 chance to answer the quiz during the exam time.
Part II: Tasks (20 points)
The second part consists of 8 tasks that total 24 points. The maximum number of points you can get is 20. You will have the exam time (4 hours) minus the test time (10 minutes) to solve the tasks. This part is open-book. You can search the material as much as you need, but you must not ask another person (except the instructor) for help during the exam. The solutions can be written on paper and then photographed, or, alternatively, you can use OpenOffice Writer, Microsoft Word, LaTeX or anything else you feel comfortable with. Illustrations can be made digitally with a graphics tablet. Writer / Word / LaTeX files should be converted to PDF. Regardless of your choice of tools, the solutions must be clear and readable. You may need to write and execute code to solve some of the tasks, then include the code files too.
During the exam you need to be present in the Zoom room. You need to have a webcam enabled at all times (if you do not have a webcam, you can use your phone with DroidCam software). The webcam should show your face and not your exam paper. The text chat can be used for organizational questions.
You also have a chance to ask for help from the instructor once during the exam for the entire II part. When you do that, the instructor and you will enter into a breakout room and can discuss your issues via audio. Notifying the instructor that you want help can be done in the text chat of the general room.
