Title: Image Processing: Illuminsation Enhancement
Abstract:
Image processing has been centre of interest of many researchers in almost last half century. As David Marr has stated “in the 1960s almost no one realized that machine vision was difficult. The reason for this misperception is that we humans are ourselves so good at vision”. The human visual system (HVS) proves that image understanding in real-time is possible. That is why many real-time computer vision systems exist nowadays. Image processing is a sub-branch of signal processing, but with a big difference. Mainly in image processing, you see and feel your output, and rather than seeing many integrals and differential equations you see colourful images. In this short talk, we will go over what image processing is, review some examples of image processing, and finally we will talk about illumination enhancement of images. Illumination enhancement has been pointed out as one of the most important pre-processing for many image processing applications.
Brief Bio:
Asst. Prof. Dr. Gholamreza Anbarjafari (Šahab) received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees from Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Famagusta, Cyprus, in 2007, 2008, 2010 respectively. He has been working in the field of image processing and is currently focusing in many research works related to face recognition/tracking, image enhancement, super resolution, image compression, watermarking, and low-bit rate video coding. Some of his projects have been awarded several prizes from the EMU Technopark. He was a research assistant at EMU and has worked as an Asst. Prof. at Cyprus International University and Hasan Kalyoncu University. He is currently working as an Asst. Prof. in Institute of Technology at University of Tartu.
