Grading Criteria
The course grading is distributed in three main blocks:
- Homeworks (35 points in total, to be completed individually)
- Homework 1: Descriptive Process Mining (14 points)
- Homework 2: Predictive Process Monitoring (8 points)
- Homework 3: "What-if" Scenarios in Process Mining (8 points)
- Homework 4: Data Extraction and Preprocessing (5 points)
- Course Project (35 points)
- Analysis of a real-life dataset and a set of questions posed by a business user.
- To be completed in teams of 3-4 members.
- Submission of a report and in-person presentation.
- Final Exam (30 points)
- Theory (10 points): Short exam with 10 simple questions (open-book).
- Practice (20 points): Analysis of an event log using various process mining techniques, such as the ones studied throughout the course (open-book and open-laptop).
- Optional (extra 3 points)
- Ask, at least, one question during the guest lecture.
- Write a short summary, between 200 and 500 words, of the key takeaways of the guest lecture.
NB! To get a passing grade, you must score at least 51 points in total AND at least 12 out of 30 points in the final exam (the exam is in-person only).
Deadlines
- Homework 1: from 26/02/2026 until 18/03/2026 (3 weeks)
- Homework 2: from 26/03/2026 until 08/04/2026 (2 weeks)
- Homework 3: from 09/04/2026 until 22/04/2026 (2 weeks)
- Homework 4: from 23/04/2026 until 29/04/2026 (1 week)
- Project: from 30/04/2026 until 28/05/2026 (4 weeks)
Final exam
- Option 1: on the 28/05/2026 from 14:15 to 16:00 (room 2048)
- Option 2: on the 04/06/2026 from 12:15 to 14:00 (room 2010)
- Retake: on the 18/06/2026 from 12:15 to 14:00 (room 2048)
Policy for late submissions
Late submissions of any homework or project are highly discouraged:
- Up to 24 hours late: penalty of -25% over the obtained mark.
- Up to 48 hours late: penalty of -50% over the obtained mark.
- More than 48 hours late: will not be graded.
