LTAT.05.007 Human-Computer Interaction (6 ECTS)

Objectives

This course will provide a theoretical and practical understanding of human-computer interaction (HCI) design including concepts of user-centered and design thinking, usability, interfaces, rapid prototyping, and evaluation.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will able to:

  1. Understand the relationship between people and digital technologies
  2. Gain knowledge of the User-Centered Design process and techniques for the prototyping
  3. Become familiar with approaches for gathering and analysing user data, and conveying design concepts
  4. Cover the fundamental principles of HCI
  5. Identify and deploy a selection of HCI design methodologies
  6. Become familiar with approaches for the evaluation of computing systems

Assessment

During the course, students are required to submit:

  • four individual assignments, each worth a maximum of 10 points;
  • four group assignments, each worth a maximum of 10 points;
  • one group project assignment, worth a maximum of 20 points.

The resulting score (out of 100) will be mapped to the following grades:

  • A: 100 - 91
  • B: 90 - 81
  • C: 80 - 71
  • D: 70 - 61
  • E: 60 - 51
  • F: 50 - 0

A grade higher than F (more than 50 points) and the submission of all reports are required to pass the course. To pass the course, students must attend in person at least 10 out of 14 lectures and 5 out of 8 practical sessions. For assignments that are handed in after the presented deadline 50% of the points will be deducted per day.
