Course Overview
Pre-assessment
If you have not done it yet, please conduct a pre-assessment as soon as possible via this link. This is for measuring the performance indicators of our summer school only, and we will do the post-assessment after the course as well.
Self-paced levelling courses (deadline 10 August 2025)
During four self-paced preparatory weeks, you have to complete two courses:
- Introduction to AI: "How artificial intelligence can support healthcare". Make sure to mark every step as completed to be able to download the certificate. You can use the button at the bottom of each page to do so. Please note that you can continue with ‘week 2’ immediately after finishing ‘week 1’ (and likewise for weeks 3 and 4), although it is recommended that you follow the recommended pacing. If you use the trial version of FutureLearn, then you need to finish everything in 5 weeks because you will lose access after that.
- python introduction course: "Introduction to python". Note that DataCamp may show a blocking ad in the middle of the course. We agree that this is very inconvenient, but you can ignore the ad just by refreshing the browser page. We have invited all participants to the summer school group in DataCamp - this way, you should not see the ads.
These courses can be completed for free, and we do not require you to buy a certificate, but we would need a screenshot of the completion of the course. Please send it to maria.malk@ut.ee

Face-to-face course will take at Delta Centre, Tartu, Estonia.

Travel grants for face-to-face week (29 August 2025)
We will provide up to 350 euros of financial aid for travel and accommodation related to the AIProHealth summer school face-to-face week for each participant this year (2025). To receive this financial aid, please retain all travel documents (invoices, receipts, payment documents, boarding passes, etc.) and send them in a single email to saili.petti@ut.ee. Use the subject line: "AIProHealth 2024: travel documents of [your name]". Include all the documents and your bank account details. The deadline for submission is 29 August 2025.
Online Hackathon (teamwork with the project) (18 - 29 August 2025)
In the last part of the training, the participants carry out the project as group work. The project includes solving one practical data science task in healthcare using the skills learned in the training. The project topics can be proposed by the participants themselves, but the training organizers also provide ideas.
Project work will begin during the face-to-face week and continue during the hackathon.
As a result of the project, a final report will be prepared, which must be submitted together with the code generated during the execution of the project. At the end of the training, a virtual presentation of projects occurs, where all group members make a joint presentation and answer questions from other participants and the hackathon jury. During the planning and implementation of the project (both during the face-to-face and hackathon), there are voluntary consultations where you can ask for personal help. The presentation of the project will be on 30th of August 2024.
Presentations of the project (29 August 2025)
Online presentations of the project (final pitch) take place on 29th of August 2025
Completing the course
To successfully complete the training, you should complete levelling courses, participate in a face-to-face week, and present your project successfully at the hackathon.
A digital certificate of participation will be issued to participants who have completed the training on time.
