Course structure
The organization of the training is structured into 3 major parts:
- online levelling courses must be completed by the 9th of August 2024 (more information under Course Materials section)
- face-to-face online week on 12-16th August 2024 (more information under Course Materials section)
- and an online hackathon on 17-30 August 2024.
During the face-to-face course, you will be introduced to theoretical knowledge, practising obtained knowledge during the hands-on sessions and will confirm newly obtained practical skills through independent work on a course project and discussion with fellow students and lecturers. Summer school is conducted in English.
Learning environment and communication
The face-to-face week is taking place in the Delta Centre, Narva mnt 18, Tartu, Estonia.
Project
In the last part of the training, the participants carry out the project as group work. The project includes solving one practical data science task in healthcare using the skills learned in the training. The project topics can be proposed by the participants themselves, but the training organizers also provide ideas.
Project work will begin during the face-to-face week and continue during the hackathon.
As a result of the project, a final report will be prepared, which must be submitted together with the code generated during the execution of the project. At the end of the training, a virtual presentation of projects occurs, where all group members make a joint presentation and answer questions from other participants and the hackathon jury. During the planning and implementation of the project (both during the face-to-face and hackathon), there are voluntary consultations where you can ask for personal help. The presentation of the project will be on 30th of August 2024.
To successfully complete the training, you should complete leveling courses, participate in a face-to-face week and make a successful presentation of your project at the hackathon.
A digital certificate of participation will be issued to participants who have completed the training on time.
