General Info
Data Systems Research Seminars provides a forum for master students to discuss and generate ideas on various applied research issues. Students conduct an in-depth study of research in machine learning interpretability and knowledge graphs, work in discussion groups, and debate. In the research seminar, the students can integrate their knowledge, skills, and practical experience gained throughout their studies. These seminars can be used for 3 ECTS in the seminar module. 3 extra ECTS can be assigned to students who decide to carry on a project in the seminars' context.
Seminar Style
Every student must choose 2 research papers. One to defend and one to oppose.
The presentation lasts 20 minutes followed by 15 minutes of defense. During the defense, anyone can ask questions, but the opponent is supposed to lead the discussion stressing on the work's weaknesses.
Defender and Opponent should write a common report for the paper in an object.
NOTABLY: Reading a paper always requires to read many of the references too. Both the defender and the opponent should focus on the literature.
