Title:
An Algebraic Approach to Network Coding
Based on the paper of Ralf Koetter and Muriel Medard

Abstract:
The purpose of this presentation is to study the ideas described in the above paper. We will show that algebraic network coding is an useful ingredient in achieving the capacity of a network, which is the maximal possible rate of information transmission between the source(s) and the destinations. It will also be shown that coding information transmitted in the network (over sufficiently large finite field) leads to optimal rates of transmission for a variety of multicast scenarios.
