Secure Programming Techniques

  • Code: MTAT.07.015 (3 EAP)
  • Lectures: Either online or saved Zoom videos. Fridays 12:15-14:00. Zoom link will be sent by e-mail.
  • Lecturers: Margus Freudenthal, Burak Can Kus, Eduardo Ribas Brito, Armin Kisand, Tatjana Fadejeva
  • Homeworks are organized by: Aivo Toots, Janno Jaal, Maria Murumaa, Rico-Andreas Lepp;
  • Questions regarding homeworks: secprog at cyber dot ee)
  • Homework: four exercises, 40 points in total.
  • Seminar talk: 10 points.
  • Exams: written exam, 50 points.

Scoring (total 100 points):

  • Homework exercises give 40 points in total.
  • Successful seminar presentation is 10 points
  • Written exam is 50 points.

Format of the exam:

  • Physical, written exam.
  • The exams will be held in parallel, in Tallinn and Tartu.
    • 06.06 12:15-14:00: Tallinn ICT-315, Tartu Narva mnt 18 - 2003.
    • 13.06 12:15-14:00: Tallinn ICT-702, Tartu Narva mnt 18 - 2003.
  • You can bring 1 A4 (two-sided) of hand-written notes.

The exam questions have two types:

  • Explaining the main concepts covered in the course, explaining when is some concept/technique applicable, what are the properties of different techniques/technologies.
  • Exercises: typically description of a situation in which you need to analyze what tool/approach would be the best, what are the potential issues with some approach, etc.
