Session 3: Enterprise Architecture Modeling - the Issue of Integration

According to Fotis K et.al, Enterprise architecture (EA) is used by businesses to offer a unified environment and to assist the integration of business and IT strategies. In this session we discuss a number of issues and cases that highlight the difficulties in terms of Enterprise System Integration.

Archimate modeling language is used to address a particular use case and provide a holistic view that helps Enterprise Integration Engineers to map business processes with application services and components. ArchiMate is an open and independent enterprise architecture modeling language that can be used to describe, analyze, and visualize architecture in and across business domains in a clear way.Archimate is used as a modeling language. ArchiMate is one of the open standards hosted by The Open Group and is fully aligned with TOGAF.

Archimate has received a significant attention worldwide, particularly, well-know international organisations like European Commission. Archimate is used for the modelling of European Interoperability Reference Architecture (EIRA) to guide public administrations or EU member states in their work to provide interoperable European public services to businesses and citizens.
