Homework 5: Process Mining

This homework refers to the Procure-to-Pay event log that we have used as an example in the practice sessions. Using this log, answer the following questions.

  1. Normally, the time between the moment the purchase requisition is created and the moment when the corresponding purchase order is created, should not exceed 2 days. Find out how many cases exceed this service-level objective. Investigate the main differences between the cases where this service-level objective is fulfilled and those cases where it is violated. Make sure you focus your analysis on those events that happen before the purchase order is created.
  2. A rework loop is an activity or a sequence of activities that are repeated in a business process. Which rework loops are there in this process? For each of these rework loops, what is the difference in average cycle time between the cases that contain this rework loop and the cases that do not contain it?
  3. Normally, the total cycle time of the process should be 21 days or less. To what extent each of the rework loops in this process contributes to violations of this 21-days completion target?
