Practical Training courses

• Practical Training in Informatics (MTAT.03.237, 6 ECTS, 156 work hours. Bachelor and Master studies. )
• Practical Training in Informatics (MTAT.03.206, 12 EAP, 312 work hours. Master studies.)

Organizational changes of the course in relation to the current emergency situation:

• The practical training courses continues as usual as there are no lectures or labs in these subjects.
• Practical training defense seminars will be conducted through web environment (via MS Teams or Zoom).
• Students should contact the practical training coordinator if internships in the company are delayed, interrupted, or other other problems are encountered.

Goals of the course

The goal of the Practical Training is to acquire real work experience (Duration is 160, 320 or 480 hours) in an IT related company.

• Apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills in companies or institutions related to computer science and information technology.
• Provide trainees with the experience of individual work and teamwork necessary for entering labor market, and improve their professional skills and knowledge through job-based learning.

Practical Training will give students opportunities to acquire skills required for entering labor market and experience in:

• working in companies (key skills).
• the suitability of their personal characteristics (personal skills).
• the suitability and level of their acquired knowledge (skills related to education).
• potential opportunities for future career (career management skills).

Description of the course

The course starts with a description of professional practical training, how student can be successful in it and overview of organizational details. In the course of this course, students will:

1. Select a company for practical training base and apply for internship.
2. Create a practical training plan in co-operation with a practical training base side supervisor.
3. Complete the practical training.
4. Create a practical training report and defend it.
