Seminar Milestones:

  • 21-Sep-2020: MSc topic and supervisor confirmed (e-mail from supervisor to dietmar.pfahl@ut.ee required)
    • List of students & topics & supervisors (final)
  • 24-Sep-2020: Last possibility to withdraw from the seminar (without going through the Dean's office)
  • 28-Sep-2020: Classification of thesis topic
    • Submit here -- make sure to select the correct submission option (T1)
  • 19-Oct-2020: 1st draft of report
    • Expected contents (mandatory):
      • Statement of goals that shall be achieved (What results will be delivered? / What problems will be solved?)
      • Motivation: why is it interesting/important to achieve the stated goals?
      • List of criteria that will be used to decide whether you have achieved the stated goals
      • Description of starting situation
    • Additional content (optional)
      • Description of process/method how you will achieve your goals
    • Format: You must use the MSc thesis template
      • The MSc thesis template can be found here (Word and TeX templates)
    • Submit report here -- make sure to select the correct submission option (T2) -- Submission must be a PDF file

  • 23-Nov-2020: 2nd draft of report + presentation slides (for presenters on 25-Nov-2020)
    • Expected contents of report (mandatory):

      • Cover slide with name of student, name(s) of supervisor(s), topic/title
      • Slides 1-2: Motivation & Baseline situation (starting point of your thesis)
      • Slide 3: Goals || Research Questions || Expected Results (it's up to you, which of the three you present -- all have roughly the same meaning)
      • Slides 4-6: Method (= Process how you will: achieve the goals || answer the RQs || produce the expected results))
      • Slide 7: Related work / alternative solutions; basically, here you say what is different / new in your thesis

  • 25-Nov-2020: Feedback on presentation (for presentations on 25-Nov-2020)
