Music Information Retrieval
The course is meant for the student already familiar and comfortable with using machine learning. In this course the ML methods are applied to music audio signal and symbolic representations. During the course we briefly introduce signal processing methodology and explain music components (rhythm, melody, chords, timbre, loudness) and the principles of their extraction from audio signal. The course introduces the challenges that MIR solves: music recommendations, segmentation, categorization, fingerprinting, algorithmic composition, score following, transcription. The course is finished with independent project, where the student can apply the acquired knowledge.
